Apple has introduced a new event-planning tool, Apple Invites, allowing users to create and send invitations seamlessly.
The app, launched on Tuesday, offers an easy way to organize events such as birthdays, graduations, and housewarming parties while managing RSVPs and guest lists.
Available on both iOS and the web, Apple Invites app aims to enhance Apple’s ecosystem by integrating with its growing suite of subscription services.
Apple has launched a new app called Apple Invites 🚨 This new app allows users to create custom invitations for special events such as birthdays, vacations, graduations, and more
How Apple Invites app works
The Apple Invites app allows users to design and share invitations digitally, making it easier to track responses and coordinate events.
While guests do not need an iPhone to RSVP, sending invitations requires a paid iCloud+ subscription.
The app is part of Apple’s broader strategy to expand its Services division, which has become the company’s second-largest revenue driver after the iPhone.
In the December quarter alone, Apple’s Services segment generated $25 billion in revenue, with a significant portion coming from its subscription-based offerings.
Competing with Partiful
Apple’s new app directly competes with Partiful, a startup founded in 2020 that allows users to create and send event invites.
While Partiful has gained popularity, Apple’s vast installed base of 2.35 billion active devices gives it a major advantage in attracting users to its platform.
In response to Apple’s launch, Partiful took to social media, humorously calling the app a “copycat.”
Apple Invites app pricing
To send invitations via the Apple Invites app, users must have an iCloud+ subscription, which starts at $1 per month for 50GB of cloud storage.
The subscription is also bundled into Apple’s higher-tier plans, which can cost up to $38 per month, offering additional services such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, fitness classes, games, and premium news content.
Apple Invites features
One of the standout features of Apple Invites is its integration with Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of artificial intelligence (AI) tools.
Users can leverage AI to generate custom invitation designs, draft event descriptions, and share photo albums and playlists with guests.
Apple’s strategy with Apple Invites aligns with its push to drive more users toward paid subscriptions.
Beyond event planning, iCloud+ offers additional features such as:
- Private Relay, a VPN-style browsing tool
- Custom email domains for iCloud users
- Secure camera storage for home security systems
- Burner email generation for privacy-conscious users
While Apple has not disclosed the exact number of iCloud+ subscribers, the company recently announced it has 1 billion total subscriptions, which includes services like App Store subscriptions, Apple Music, and iCloud storage plans.
