Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, A-REITs and Financials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.45%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:OBL), which rose 4.38% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.43 at the close. Meanwhile, Nanosonics Ltd (ASX:NAN) added 6.33% or 0.21 points to end at 3.53 and Tabcorp Holdings Ltd (ASX:TAH) was up 6.25% or 0.04 points to 0.68 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:RSG), which fell 3.70% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.39 at the close. Perenti Global Ltd (ASX:PRN) declined 2.52% or 0.04 points to end at 1.36 and Credit Corp Group Ltd (ASX:CCP) was down 2.45% or 0.43 points to 17.12.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 545 to 535 and 480 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.16% to 10.80.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.03% or 0.71 to $2,747.99 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $77.37 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.15% or 0.12 to trade at $80.67 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 0.62, while AUD/JPY rose 0.06% to 96.93.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 108.96.
